现今的加拿大年轻人在完成学业、准备步入职场时，正面临一个残酷现实：这是几十年来毕业生面临的最糟糕就业市场。

根据Indeed加拿大求职网站高级经济学家布伦登·伯纳德（Brendon Bernard）对加拿大统计局数据的分析，2025年第一季度，年龄在25岁以下、已完成大学或其他高等教育且当前未在校的毕业生失业率达11.2%。对这一群体来说，这是过去二十年来（不含疫情期间）年初失业率的最高水平。

伯纳德通过电子邮件表示：“近年来，加拿大就业市场疲软的主要受害者是青年群体，这部分原因在于年轻人的就业前景对雇主需求的波动更为敏感，但更大的冲击来自于15至24岁人口的激增。”

过去三年，加拿大劳动力市场持续走弱，与加拿大央行为抑制通胀而不断加息的举措相吻合。加息抑制了经济增长与企业招聘活力。

尽管近期利率已有所下降，市场本应有所复苏，但由美国主导的贸易战却令前景黯淡，迫使许多企业缩减招聘和投资计划。
