HOUSE: 又分独立屋和半独立屋,就是拥有房子和这块土地产权, 加拿大大多数是这种房子。 独立屋有多种叫法,single-family detached home, single-family home,
detached house,single-detached dwelling,separate house。独立屋形式上有平房(Bungalow和Raised-bungalow)、楼房(包括一层半、两层、两层半,甚至三层)和复式(又分后复式Backsplit和边复式 Sidesplit)几种。

2. 2 Storey split level house 于典型的2 storey区别是二层和basement只有局部,一般living room 和kitchen 只有一层, 比较高,但一般bedroom较小。是建筑成本最经济的户型,流行于1970-90。又分后复式Backsplit和边复式 Sidesplit。
3. Bungalow 就是平房,地面只有一层,主要房间如卧室、家庭厅、厨房等均在一层,地下室部分和主层一样大,常有分门出入。Bungalow曾于五、六十年代在加拿大流行,是典型二战后的产物,因为它造价经济、设计简约、施工方便,很符合那个时代的需求

3. Bi-level house就是basement比较高的bungalow,介于2层和平房之间,入口比main floor 低半层。一般basement是walkout,可以出外边。
一栋房子左右分两家, 公用中间的一道墙。内部结构,使用功能和独立屋一样,也有2 syorey,bungalow 和split之分。但土地和物业产权是各自拥有的,更换外面的墙体,屋顶须两家共同合作。在Montreal法定叫Duplex。

condo,是一种“共管式物业”。住宅单位属私人所有,公用地产为所有业主共同拥有。室外的保养、维修工作交管理公司处理,住户每月支付管理费。一般而言,居住的房间归你所有,但周围的建筑面积,如走道等要由整个建筑内的所有住家均摊。Condo.分townhouse和apartment(公寓),condo可以买,也可租,apartment多是出租。
1. (联排屋)。一排建筑物至少有三个以上的单位,左右或是前后相连,但分门出入到地面。传统镇屋大多是两层高,也有三层高,有1-2车库的,也有没车库的,但每户必须有一个车位。土地为所有住户公有, 业主对土地没有直接使用权,每户占有平均的份额。通常有前院或后院。
