《全球华语广播网》加拿大观察员胡声桥：加拿大的房地产开发商卢卡莫里斯)已经在一项老年公寓开发计划中投入了数亿加元，他在建造老年公寓方面雄心勃勃。除了计划将自己在魁北克省经营的老人公寓的数量增加一倍外，还计划在加拿大各地建造老年公寓。加拿大老年公寓真有那么大的市场吗?答案似乎是肯定的。主要原因在于，不少加拿大人在上了年纪或者退休后，往往会选择寄住在公寓里，因为公寓往往有各种共用设施，而且有人管理，老年人在居住方面自己要操心的事情比较少，公寓因此成了适合老年人生活方式和节奏的居住方式。更重要的原因是，二战后，欧洲和北美出现婴儿潮，有大量婴儿诞生在战后百废待兴的岁月里。现在，这些在婴儿潮中出生的小孩大多步入老年，年龄大多在六十多岁或七十多岁，正是大量步入老年的婴儿潮时期出生的加拿大人为各地建造老人公寓带来了动力。
那么老年公寓能给老年人提供什么样的服务呢?这能满足他们的晚年生活需要吗?
胡声桥：并非所有老年人都追求特别豪华的生活环境，他们中的许多人都想生活在设施齐备、服务周全的公寓内。比如现代化厨房，老年人开展各种活动的设施，健身房、游泳池和花园等，以及使他们能独立生活的各种服务。当然，老年人也希望公寓附近有各种商建咖啡馆，让他们可以出去散散心。现在，免费的wifi无线上网服务似乎也成了老年公寓的必备品。魁北克房地产开发商卢卡莫里斯看中了这个市场，按照他的计划，打算今后数年在蒙特利尔和魁北克市推出17栋5500个单元的新型老年公寓。
那么老年公寓在加拿大的前景怎么样?
胡声桥：在魁北克省的老年人中，有18.5%的人都居住在退休公寓内，这个数字远远高于9%的加拿大平均水平。但现在，随着加拿大各地有更多在婴儿潮时期出生的人步入老年，加拿大大城市比如温哥华、多伦多等地房价的迅速攀登，加拿大人有越来越多的加拿大老年人喜欢住设施齐备、服务周到的老年公寓。据一家研究老年人居住情况的机构“全球老人生活社区”介绍，今后五年加拿大适合老年人居住的住宅数量会加倍。（转载）
